Will Amazon Advertising be Okay with the new Cover

After Amazon Advertising declined to advertise my first Kindle Short Read due to the cover being too salacious, I was indignant and decided to keep the cover anyway. It took several days of thoughtful introspection, but in the end, I decided a change may be in order. This began the search for a different and less suggestive cover photo. I have to be honest. I like the second look better.

The have Houses of the Holy by Led Zep and the Blind Faith album covers unedited on their site and they’re talking “salacious”? Okay, whatever they say. I like the cover you have.

@DWDavis — I guess they figure Led Zep has a better lawyer than you do.

Thanks. I resisted the idea of changing it. Now, I'm glad I did.

@thislittlepennyearns The last paperback was Buzby Beach Homecoming. It came out back in September 2020. Second Chance for First Love is the first I've published as DW Davis since then. It's a short read. Printed, it would only be about 50 pages. In the old days, it would have been called a novelette. I published Soul Collector as an eBook for Kindle under the name WB Sears in April 2022. It is very different from any of my other books, hence the different pen name. WB Sears was actually my grandfather.

@DWDavis Is this the newest one? Am just missing any other books?

She is a model from, I believe, Poland. The photographer is in Poland. I am using the photo under license through Pixabay.

Sometimes it's best just to give in and go with the flow. This is a good cover too.

I decided exactly that in the end. And this cover does draw you in more as the character pictured is looking right at you.

They should be okay with this cover, but I honestly didn't think the other one was a problem either.

I was very surprised when the first cover was rejected. Ah, well, live and learn.

@DWDavis I wonder who approves/rejects the covers? Monastic hermits?

@DWDavis There really is! The only thing I can think of if it's a bot with a photo reading algorithm is that there's a higher percentage of skin showing in the first picture. But again, there was nothing risque or indecent in the picture. Just two smiling people lying down, and the woman seemed to have a nightgown on with narrow shoulder straps.

Intrigued, did they say in what way it was salacious?
