Got My Lab Results Back | 2023 Health Journey

I like that St. Luke's has their patient portal. I can message the doctor through it and see test results the next day (or as soon as they are done anyway).
This may be long....
So, I thought I would go over some of those. Looking at the numbers, they are pretty similar to a year ago when I was hospitalized with DKA (or diabetic keto-acidosis). That happens when the Co2 is low and the Anion gap is high. My Co2 was lower when I was hospitalized...so I don't think I made it quite there. Maybe it was not the medicine after all that I was on at the time. Oh, also the blood sugar will be super high.
My kidney health numbers are also higher currently - but I notice that if they are tested while it is a certain time of the month (if you know, you know) they are always elevated. So, that could be it...or I could be started towards kidney problems.
The doctor does want me to retest these in three months.
My thyroid test came back in range, so for now that is not an issue I guess.
Lipids - like cholesterol and such... They are all in range, except the "good" kind is a bit low. Oh, and I guess the bad is a tiny bit over the range...but not an alarming number. And I am not concerned since my triglycerides are not high.
The other numbers that were high or low I looked up and either meant I was dehydrated which is highly likely or that I need some extra vitamins (and possibly iron).
I am mostly concerned about the high sugar, Co2 and anion gap for now. If I can get my sugars down, that should improve. I am a bit concerned about the kidney tests, but will have to see how they are next time.
I know this may be not interesting to some...but I thought I would share it since it is part of my journey. Need to know where I stand now to know what I need to work on for the rest of the year....

@MommyOfEli2013 Oooh. Is there some sort of compromise that can be arranged?

I am not sure I will do very well because I hate eating low carb, but carbs are the enemy.

@tammys85 Taking more insulin? Allowing a few carbs? Not sure!

It sounds like you need to get your sugars down. That means fewer carbs. I know you like your cheat days, but those days are working against you.

Oh I know I need to get them down. And that's why I am doing low carb, as much as possible. I will still have cheat days. To say I won't is very unrealistic. I need to not have carb binges for days, weeks, months...etc. That's what did it to me. I will be upping the insulin every couple days till my sugars improve.

Some of it like the kidneys sound a bit worrisome. Keep working on better eating and hopefully your next appointment all your worries will be able to be forgotten.

Well my better eating is not going to be very healthy necessarily. But cutting out the carbs is what needs to be done, but I hate giving them up.

I wish you the best of luck with your health. I get to see the vampires at the end of the month, too. Because of timing and bloodwork being behind.

Those carbs are getting more dangerous to your health

I know they are like a poison....but they taste good and are more convenient. I don't want to be cooking 2-3 meals a day.
