Do you like to read fan fiction?

I do to a certain extent. I mostly read The Man From U.N.C.L.E. fanfic, from the old TV show, not the movie. I've also enjoyed reading Doctor Who, more of the classic show rather than the reboot. I have written some fanfic as well as original fiction. I like my fanfic to feel like it could've been an episode. If you would like to read any of my fics, here is the site. The only recent story on it is The Hunt - 1970, the rest are re-edited older stuff. I will warn you that I write science fiction, not hard stuff, no rockets and stuff.

I remember the TV show The Man From U.N.C.L.E. but I never read the book. Science fiction is not my favorite topic.

They did 18 tie-in books of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. It was an original concept that the man who dreamed it up, Norman Felton, was actually talking to Ian Fleming at the time and Fleming gave the name "Solo" to him as the lead. However, nobody, except maybe Norman Felton, knew what kind of reaction there would be to David McCallum's Illya Kuryakin.

@ElicBxn I remember that I watched the series many (MANY) years ago, well before I got married. I think it was in the mid 60's.

I was not a fan of these when they were shown on TV. The first time I watched Dr Who I was only a child , I found the Daleks really scary because I though they were real. Some people say that the original theme music makes them scared too. On a different subject, I am curious about that website archive of our own, is it a site that pays members to write and can anybody join?

It is not a pay site, just like fanzines did not pay writers, except they got a copy of the 'zine their story was in. But, anyone can join and anyone can read, and most stuff can be read without joining.

@lazydaizee let me start with your last question, what box are they asking you to tick? I am a member so I've never seen this - well, maybe when I joined, but that was over a decade ago. Okay, the site is dedicated to fan fiction - TV, movies, books, video games... whatever. You can post original fic if it could be considered like from some kind of fannish origin. ("Fannish" is like 'oh, this looks like it could've been a - fill in a blank - story first.) So, no non-fiction stuff - UNLESS - it is a study of fan fiction or fandom in general.

@ElicBxn Thank you for your answer, unfortunately I am not into fan fiction so maybe I will not join the site. Your answer has saved me some time , and I am also very cautious about giving my email out to websites that I have not heard of before. Good luck with your writing.

I left fandom far behind after the divorce, so haven't read any since the early 80s, when I was editing the club newsletter.

I've heard other women say that, I don't understand why they do it, but again, I married another fan...

Writing is a great pastime. I seem to spend hours each day writing and/or reading.

I spend a lot of time watching videos on YouTube, but I still get a few other things done.

I used to read a lot of Blake's 7 fan fiction, as well as some Dr Who. This was back in the days (late 80s-early 90s) when there were still fan clubs and fanzines that you could order through the post. I hardly ever buy fanzines these days, but there don't seem to be as many around anyway. Like conventions, they seem to be slowly dying out. Somehow, I don't find reading fanfic online is the same as having it in my hands.

I never got into Blake's 7 fandom, but I do have several Doctor Who stories on my AO3 page you might enjoy. They aren't long and they are universe compliant. They are also "classic" Doctor Who, not the new guys. One is mostly Doctor 3, 2 are Doctor 4 and one is pre-series. The two Doctor 4 stories are cross overs, one with The Man From UNCLE and the other The Tomorrow People. I have another Doctor Who story that I would need to track down to retype that is pure Doctor 4. The Doctor 3 story does have a couple of Doctor 4 stuff taken from the show and the last bit is Doctor 5 with a tiny add on that ties the story together.
