NATURAL SOAPS AND COSMETICS PRODUCTS

There has been a debate on how products labelled as "natural" or "organic" are truly authentic. The word "natural" or "organic" are generic terms that any one can add to the label of their products and make claims that they are natural or organic. For instance, in soap making. The use of caustic soda has been a hot topic that its not natural and soaps should only be made with wood ashes or potash to be natural. However, a point to note is that no soap can be made without lye. The same point is also true for cosmetics, hair care products. The question is how true is natural or organic? Do we just pick items on store shelves because they are labelled organic or our friends said they are good?

Organic (particularly for food) is almost always a scam. Natural products exists and if you want to be sure you make the natural products yourself. Ashes are wonderful to wash white fabrics. You can make natural soap using baking soda, water and essential oils

@MakOwiti It is almost impossible to be honest on organic food, in agriculture some chemicals are needed or the products will not grow up.

@LadyDuck May be if we go back several decades back where our ancestors used to farm only using crop rotation and use animal manure and make shift pesticides that lacked most chemicals we witness today. I think most chemicals are also being over used making plants to rely on them hence stunted or poor growth. Long time ago, I noticed people had a longer lifespan due to food eaten. But I still agree with you that most plants would not grow without fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides.

I think in general life, people want things the quicker way and would not want to work smart. Most people are also dishonest with their dealings and would rather make quick money but dupe people.

I know that due to contaminated soil and pollutants, nothing is natural and organic, but I still tend to buy certain things.

I go for organic and natural products despite knowing fully well that no products can actually be pure organic in today's world. With so much pollution and contamination around, there is hardly any hundred percent pure organic land to grow organic products. I go for them as they are better option at least

Its just managing with that you have or you can lay your hands on. The rate of pollution has reached its highest level possible and no one is doing anything to reduce it. It is affecting even the new generation and probably if we are not careful, the future of food and water will be in jeopardy

I have to be careful what products I used because I suffer from allergies. I find that I am okay with a brand of olive oil soap.
