I have recently been applying for freelance online content writer's jobs. In my 14 years of experience from whoever I have done the job, had a telephonic conversation with me and give me a small task for which I was paid or saw my previous work and hired me. Of now most of the employers give heavy assignments and then keep quiet or just send an email saying that they have moved to the second step which I don't know what they mean by it. I had an argument with such a company called Aratech about their shady ways on whatsapp. On threatening them that I would let the cyber cell of their city know about it. They have been trying to create a issue on whatsapp which I am not allowing. Some employers have been coming through well known professional sites like LinkedIn. Textbook.com is one of them. They entrusted me with heavy assignments only as a text which I denied to attempt. So beware of such online article or write up theives.

It sounds like a huge scam. Best to write from trusted sites.

@aninditasen I would probably check ratings and reviews online.

How to know whether it's a trusted site or not?

@DianneN I think I too should do that.

I personally would be suspicious of a site that recruited from Whats app. It sounds fishy.

It didn't recruit through whatsapp but through the job site indeed.com. The HR I think rang me up to see some of my sample writings. The assignment came through a mail.

@snowy22315 It sounds better but it was a cheating trick. Most assessments come through emails with the intention to steal your writings.

It's so hard to know which companies can be trusted. There are so many dodgy ones out there now.

Yes, that's true because they come through job sites. It's the job sites who should do proper screening.

Both. I don't work now and am running myself with my husband's pension which is called family pension and therefore want to do some work as I was a content.
