Parenting Adults and Teens

My Eldest has just turned 18 It's weird not telling her what she needs to be doing instead I am still tempted to be telling. With that i still have my almost 14 year old who at times thinks she is an adult and at times has moments where she acts older than her sister. Ever since I have had these girls in my life (im a step parent) I have tried to treat them with respect and treat them as adults in training. Its Hard to think of my 18 year old as an adult when she has been a child most of the time she has been in my life. I came into her life almost 6 years ago so she wasnt quite a teenager yet but the¨ Dad ¨ in me still seems to want to treat her like the teenager she was just a few days ago. I have made it clear to her that now that she is legally an adult that her responsibilites in the house have changed and that she will be seen as a room mate not just a kid. Meaning its expected that she will be picking up around the house more and expected to help out by cooking once a week and planing a meal (not Ramen in a bowl ) I am hoping by doing this it sets her up for when she does leave home that she is able to do things for herself and be the young lady we all expect of her. Sorry for ranting but I just had to post.

That is okay since sharing how to raise children to learn how to live is a lesson we can need to learn.

Eighteen is a weird age. Kind of a kid and kind of an adult.
