Past few months some are very expensive, like onions being $10 to $15 a kilo. Usually i see that high price on groceries inside the malls which vegetables are double the price than the market. But now groceries or markets it is the same expensive price. It is because of price manipulation from vegetable traders. Not really becuse of the farmers. But the lettuce are quite affordable like $2 a kilo. So i buy and eat more lettuce now. When i cook i do not add onions anymore. I just use garlics.
If they will manipulate the price of other vegetables as well, I'll just not buy. I'll just choose those that have not been affected by their shrewdness. After all, they can't do that to all vegetables all at the same time.

Yes there's unending debate and discussions in the government on how to control this. For so long they have not been able to come up for a solution for a problem that had been happening for years.

@LadyDuck yes, it's being said that the country is one of the top performing economy right now but with high inflation,, that will not translate into people having better life. Still economy is getting worse

I don't believe the farmers, at least not small farmers, here in America are manipulating the prices. The massive farms that took government money are probably involved in the food shortages and increased prices. They are in a population control mafia with the government and the world economic forum.

The farmers just sell the vegetables at a low price to people who buys in bulk which they sell to different sellers in the country. We call those buyers middleman. They will have to pay for people who will carry goods to different places. They will make sure the goods stay fresh by having a facilities with cold storage to keep the veggies last long. They do spend a lot of money also. But then they do manipulate the price. And so they earn much more than the farmers. Usually the farmers tend to lose money than earn money.
