Did Garth Brooks read my unwritten biography?

The title is in reference to Garth's song, "Unanswered Prayers." I'm listening to it on Pandora right now.
The first time I heard this song, I thought it was eerily on point to what happened at my 30th High School Reunion - the first one I'd ever attended - and I saw my high school girlfriend for the first time since graduation. Just as Garth sings in the song, I prayed every day we were together that our relationship would last forever. And, just as in the song, that night at the reunion, I realized the prayer hadn't gone unanswered. God's answer was, "No," and it was No because I was meant for someone else.
Everyday I spend with my wife, I thank God that my high school prayer went unanswered.

Some of the best things that ever happened to us are when God answers a prayer NO.

I once had a long conversation about this with a minister whose church I'd visited with the girl I was dating at the time. This was while I was stationed at what used to be Fort Lewis in Washington State. We discussed how prayers aren't wishes and God is not a genie. One of the points we agreed most on was that sometimes the answer to a prayer is No.

@DWDavis Yes years later sometimes. I am still waiting for the reason for me.
