My Dentist Appointment Went Well

I posted on here last week asking whether anyone had used valium before a dentist appointment. Well, I am happy to report that I went to the dentist on Tuesday and I took 1 valium 90 minutes before I got there. Great news...the appointment went very well. The valium made me quite tired. In fact, when I went into the dentist's office there was one person in line ahead of me, and I had to sit down because I felt my body sort of weaving back and forth. I am so happy that it's over and with the amount of Novacaine they gave me, I didn't feel any pain at all. I was aware of what they were doing, but I just didn't really care about it too much and really wanted to go to sleep. When the dentist was all done, I told him someone should invent a dental drill that doesn't make any noise because half the anxiety for me was waiting for the pain to start every time he used the drill! The dentist agreed and said whoever develops that will make a lot of money! The only problem with the valium was it made me SO sleepy. I slept all the way home in the car (my husband was driving), and then when we got home, I fed the dog and went to bed and slept for another three hours straight! It was kind of a waste of most of the day, but worth it to me, because getting dental work done is my biggest fear in the world! What is your biggest fear?

@Kouponkaren I was glad to get rid of them. I had very bad teeth and a receding gum line. No more pain now.

The drilling sound terrifies me too, that they might hit something excruciatingly painful. My biggest fear? I can't decide between snakes and heights.

@MGjhaud Yes, that's it...the fear of pain is just as bad as the pain itself. I just wish those drills could be made silent. I am not fond of heights either, but I am not as afraid of them as I am of the dentist!

And why do the syringes they use for anesthesia have to be so big and long?!

@Kouponkaren The hygenist was so clumsy, squirted water all over me twice yet was bragging she had been doing it for 37 years..a real idiot..and the dentist looked like a drunk. Needless to say I wont be attending that dentist again My teeth are half cleaned..I am so angry. Because I had to pay for the xrays.

@RebeccasFarn Oh no, I am so sorry to hear that. Did they find a problem or were you in pain during your visit?

I'm glad that went so well. It's always a bit stressful going to the dentist.
