'An apple a day keeps the doctor away'

This phrase "An Apple a day keeps the doctor" no doubt was in existence years ago but I wonder if anything else has taken its place
Looking at my own food habits I hardly eat apples as I do not like them but I know there are other foods that can easily replace the apple. It is the antioxidant flavonoids that give this place to apples but there are many other foods having these qualities.
I eat bananas thrice a day and they are no less than apples.
What is your daily intake that replaces apples?

I like dried fruit a lot and eat cranberries and apricots. I usually have some pineapple too, maybe some grapes.
Do you like bananas that are quite ripe or a little green?

@JamesHxstatic I go for one particular variety known as Kadali which has a thin skin and does not get spoilt in a hurry.

@shaggin When you say very long time how long is that? There is a limit to how long fruits can remain in the fridge.

@RebeccasFarm I have no issues with the bananas except that they are far more costly than what it used to be.

They say banana is the new apple. I hardly eat apples these days too. For some reasons they constipate me. I am into bananas. They're easier to buy and cheaper too as those fruit vendors who go from house to house sells them almost everyday. I feel they're good for my tummy and bowel movement too.
