Sports Talk: India retain Gavaskar-Border Trophy by winning against Aussies by 6 wickets / myLot

In a match that once looked at the edge of a close duel, India overcame a few hiccups to prevail over Australia by 6 wickets. This was the 2nd Test Match of the Gavaskar - Border trophy which India has now retained. Scores: Australia: 263 & 113 India : 262 & 118/4 The man of the match Ravindra Jadeja took career-best figures of 7 for 42 in the 2nd innings. His 3 wickets in the 1st innings meant a total tally of 10 wickets. He scored useful 26 runs in the first innings as well. Another noteworthy player for India was Axar Patel. He top scored with 74 runs in the first innings that helped India within 1 run of the Aussies' score. Clearly, The Aussie captain Pat Cummins and their coach need to come up with something special ! I am hanging my head in shame!

But now Pat Cummings has come back to Australia due to a serious family illness which is a shame. Very sad that someone in his family must be very sick.

@JudyEv I am unaware of the Pat Cummins update. He at least batted well in the first innings along with Usman Khawaja and Handscombe. David Warner could not bat in the second innings due to concussion. Aussies top batsman Steve Smith with an average of 60 + and 8k plus runs is also out of form. Australia needs someone like Ricky Ponting, Steve Waugh or at least Michael Clarke now. Or bowlers like Mitchell Starc etc. But on the plus side Nathan Lyon is doing quite well.

Another update : So he would fly to Sydney and come back to Indore in Central India before 1st March for the 3rd Test Match.

Hope Australia will come back with changes and give some tough fight. First 2 matches were ideally a "ONE SIDED GAME"

@Lignitecityabishek96 Yes let's hope for a better contest. Although Aussies have their challenges. David Warner and Steve Smith are not in the best of firm. Pat Cummins won't be able to play the next trst match. A lot depends on other batsmen and bowlers like Nathan Lyon.
