Camilla will soon be known as Queen Camilla

Whoever would have thought that? When the then-Prince of Wales, Charles, became engaged to his longtime love Camilla it was said that she would never be known as the Princess of Wales (due to the UK's love for the late Diana, Princess of Wales) and that she would eventually be known as Princess Consort *not Queen Consort* when her husband ascended to the throne. Queen Elizabeth II announced a year ago that it was her wish that Camilla be known as Queen Consort when the time came. That is what the British royal family and the media has referred to her as since Queen Elizabeth's death. The British public and the world in general has accepted that as Camilla has been a hard-working member of the Royal Family. Now, though, there are signs that she will simply be referred to as Queen Camilla after the coronation in May. The name of her charity has been updated from "The Duchess' Reading Room" to "The Queen's Reading Room". Some British news outlets have already dropped the "Consort" part and just call her "Queen Camilla". Wow. 20 years ago that would never have been thought possible. I wonder if Queen Elizabeth would be okay with the "consort" descriptor being dropped. Obviously we will never know.
