Where Did the Effectionate Wish 'Lilacs on your Pillow' Come From?

I mentioned my mom's ongoing affectionate nighttime wish 'Lilacs on Your Pillow' in a post on Mylot recently. The question of where she might have found it came up. I really have no idea but did do some checking.
I thought this phrase might have originally been ' roses on your pillow" but I found nothing similar about roses. I did bring up a song sung by Peggy Lee entitled 'Angels On Your Pillow'. I wonder if my mother heard this song on the radio and make up the affectionate wish herself. Lee lived from 1920- 2002 and my mother was born in 1924.
That's all I found. What do think?

I wonder if it was just something mom came up with. She was smart and read a lot.

It could be perhaps. Speaking of lilacs a wonderful thing happened. My debit card has to be renewed as of the end of May. My bank showed online that I could get a new one customized. I put in a photo of lilacs and they will be on my new debit card I am so happy.

I would be too. Mine has been the same tie-die for years now. Wish I had your option.

My belief is that the late Peggy Lee is one of my late dad's favorite singer as well your mom just changed the title of the song for her likes.

I'm sort of leaning that direction myself.
