40 years after his very funny movie History of the World Part 1, for which Brooks never intended to make a sequel, comes History of the World Part 2. K and I tried to watch it tonight. After 20 minutes we changed the channel. Part 2 does not come close to Part 1. Part 2 isn't very funny. The gags are based on stupidity rather than cleverness. Considering this may be Brooks last work, it is a tragedy that it is so bad. Of course, this is just MHO, but I have been a Mel Brooks fan for decades and loved many of his movies. I wish he had not let himself be talked into making HOTW Part 2. Have you seen HOTW Part 2? What did you think of it? Is there a sequel you wish had never been made?

Never saw part 2, but Mel Brooks is a genius and one of our favorites. Thanks for the heads up.

@DWDavis I'm surprised it was so bad. I will look for it just to see how bad it really is.

@TheHorse I think his coproducers had a lot to do with Part 2 turning out so bad.

@DWDavis Good for him! I wonder how he missed the mark on that recent (was it recent?) movie.

Hmmm, I do remember Part 1 and it was great. If I saw Part 2, I don't recall it at all.

Part 2 just came out on Hulu. I'm not sure what other streaming services it might be available on.

Nothing will top Blazing Saddles, although Young Frankenstein comes close

It irritates me that Blazing Saddles is more controversial now than when it came out because certain people these days aren't educated or broad minded enough to understand what Brooks was saying with the movie.

@DWDavis I guess that is why it isn't too much these days

We watched the first three episodes and thought they were funny enough. But we like Seth Rogan and Nick Kroll. I would of liked to see more Mel Brooks in it.

In my opinion they should of never made Blues Brothers 2.

I haven't seen it but what a shame that it isn't up to the original. Some people don't know when to call it a day which is sad.
