Short story: It sometimes takes two to solve a koan

The Zen master, Ryoto Domlas, put this koan to his students.
The one who answered it best was to move out, and to become the head of a new Zen monastery nearby.
"If two monks are arguing about whether a stone is too heavy to be lifted by either of them, who else could lift it?"
The student who answered it best, said rather arrogantly, but truly:
"I could lift it, with the help of the other two. Team effort wins over individual effort, sometimes."
"Yes,"
said the old master,
"You will need to work as a team with your students, and not lord it over them. I have selected you for the task."
"The sun of the self shines best on other selves."
The Student went, and became the head of the new monastery, and soon he had a whole monastery of students too. His arrogance had turned into gentleness.
He taught well, and he never forgot not to hide his inner self, but to shine it over his students to help them to see better the light, in their current state of darkness.
Togetherness has more strength than solitariness.

Yes, that is what is lacking now in our world with superpowers up in arms against each other to bring the other down and thereby the whole world. People talk of another world war as if it is a walk in the park!
If only we all could work together towards a better world!
The arrogance of the student gave way to humility when saddled with the responsibility. However, the arrogance of our leaders knows no bounds.
Our world should be more like an extended Zen monastery as shown in the image - serene and resplendent.

Yes, if we could bring the peace of the Zen monastery into our midst, and our livingness of everyday life, it would be a better, more loving, life.
Peace works with love, to bring about goodness, whereas arrogance only stirs the nests of hornets, and once bitten, a leader will always retaliate in kind, unfortunately.

@innertalks Sadly, we tend to elect leaders who flex their muscles and taunt others.
Many get carried away by their rhetoric and they play to the gallery to get elected.
They draw inspiration from weapons of mass destruction forgetting that love will lead to peace and coexistence.
It looks simple but to change the course from tyranny to peaceful coexistence looks beyond our ken.

Yes, usually that is the case. We can get more done, the more people that help to get it done, cooperatively working together.
This is so, unless, we have someone who behind the scenes undermines and sabotages the efforts of others, then the best-laid plans of anyone, might be thwarted to not come about so easily.
