My Le Creuset revenge!

For the past 2 years my sister and I have been battling for the coveted Le Creuset piece in the Christmas White Elephant game. We both collect Le Creuset pieces. For those who don't know--the company manufactures beautiful and high-quality pieces of bakeware, cookware, etc. that unfortunately come at a hefty price. The baking dishes that my mother included were small and, frankly, I already had the one from the most recent Christmas but it was just the principle of the thing since she *did* get the one I wanted the year before. Yeah I failed and she got that one too. My niece made place cards for dinner today. My mother decided to turn them into raffle tickets for a drawing. It was totally spontaneous and she had no idea what the prize was even going to be. She and my niece disappeared into the spare bedroom and they worked it out. Conveniently the winner was the birthday girl (me) and the prize was a small Le Creuset baking dish. I jumped up and yelled "my Christmas Le Creuset revenge!" My guess is that my mother found the dish at Home Goods or something and bought it to use for this year's Christmas game. So I have another small baking dish to add to my Le Creuset collection. That works for me these days since I'm just cooking for one. The whole thing was very funny.

Even discounted, that was likely worth $100!

Nah my guess is $20. I still am happy to have it though.

@NJChicaa Even if it were brand new, retail priced, and not a factory second? I mean, you and I know how much they cost at HomeGoods/TJ Maxx/Marshall's, but how much would it be at Williams-Sonoma?

@spiderdust That is true. Maybe double the price that I guessed? It was a very funny moment, though, and it adds to my collection. Most of my stuff is in the Marseille blue color. My MIL gave me a 9 x 3 covered casserole in orange that she got at a local outlet store many years ago. I love it but I'd never select orange. I have the Marseille and a pale blue oval baking dish. I dd see a beautiful purple color recently but I don't need to spend $$ on more Le Creuset at this point. I don't even like purple but the shade is truly gorgeous. Must have been Provence
