because i got a little excited during our last landers superstore trip and bought a huge amount of ground beef -- i ended up making all sorts of dishes that could use some beef.
one of my mommy friends shared with me her simple beef picadillo soup recipe. it's just ground beef with potatoes and some pak choi. it's so easy to cook and very filling. just one of those dinners that didn't need a lot of chopping and peeling. and, i finally got to harvest some pak choi and wansoy leaves from my garden. saved me a bit of money too.
have you tried beef picadillly soup? mine didn't have tomato sauce, though i know that some recipes of this dish would call for it.

it tastes better with some herbs of your choice. just one of those simple throw-in-your-stuff kind of soup. i hope you get to try it someday.

Looks like you had a fun cooking adventure with the ground beef you bought from Landers Supermarket and your friend shared a simple beef and potato soup recipe called picadillo. Using your own homemade vegetables made it even better. I haven't tried yet picadillo soup, but it sounds delicious.

i certainly did, though i've learned my lesson well enough -- do not buy too much ground beef.

@almostoveryou We make stews with beef and potatoes, but not soups.

it is very simple to make. i tend to think that there's a version of this in every part of the world that eats beef. i think beef and potatoes often go well together.

spinach might be a good substitute. wansoy is our version of celery here in asia. cilantro might be another option. i'm actually not sure if other filipino households use greens and herbs. perhaps you could do without and just maybe add diced carrots.

I don't put tomato sauce either. For me, that would be a different recipe, still Picadillo but not soupy. I make Picadillo too, if I don't have beef, ground pork will do though beef is more flavorful than pork.

i hope you get to try it. you just sautee the beef with garlic and onions. add water and potatoes. season to taste.
