Venison veggie soup and possible banana bread

I wanted to cook a pot of venison soup with veggies today. Dale had to go to Lowe's Home Improvement and made me promise not to turn the stove on until he gets back. He's afraid I'll forget it's on and right now that's not a totally impossible consideration. With the meds I'm taking for the pain (from the lung surgery, chemo, or both?), nausea, sleepy, unsteady, it's a wonder I could assemble the soup. I have three very ripe bananas just begging to be turned into banana bread. Of course, even if I make it later, it will probably taste horrible like everything else. But, we'll see. Hope you guys are well.

Yes, best to have some supervision while you are on these heavy meds. How many sessions of chemo do you have to have?

I'll get three more, one very three weeks. Then 6 weeks of radiation, five times a week.

@1creekgirl It will so fantastic to be done with the chemo. From what I have heard, radiation is pretty tame in comparison.

@snowy22315 I've heard that, too and sure hope it's true!

I'm sorry you are having issues. My current stove is pretty new and works almost too well!! I've burnt more than one pot of vegies due to the burner being set too high.

I have so many frozen bananas and have got to start using them up soon. I have a recipe I want to try. My husband loves venison. I’ve made quite a few recipes the past few months with ground venison. My stepson shot the deer and my husband processed it.

@1creekgirl I agree on the healthier part but I don’t eat meat to know it’s flavor. Does your husband hunt too?

@shaggin Yes, he's always been a hunter. Venison's the only wild meat I like.

We really think it's more flavorful and healthier than beef.

I'm sorry food isn't appealing but you must eat! It's probably best that you do risky things when Dale is around. Hope you feel better.

Thanks. I couldn't eat hardly anything yesterday, but this morning I had a small bowl of cold cereal. We had to go to urgent care (I have a UTI) but got a cinnamon crunch bagel at Panera Bread with honey walnut cream cheese. I was so afraid it would taste awful, but it was actually yummy!

@LindaOHio I don't think this is the worst UTI I've had, but the doctor and I suspect it might also be a kidney stone trying to move.

@1creekgirl I'm glad you enjoyed your bagel. UTIs are the worst! I hope you feel better by now.

Sorry to hear food is still tasting lousy Vicki. Hope you are getting enough rest. It's a wonder you can do very much at all I can understand why turning on the stove could be dangerous.

I felt fairly okay making the soup, but the banana bread was just something I was craving. Let's just say it was edible. It actually tastes good to me and I know this is hard to believe, but Dale even said it was good. And he hates banana bread.

@JimBo452020 I'm proud of you. It must be a terrible addition. Just keep reminding yourself it's for Yvonne. And yourself.

@RebeccasFarm He still fusses at me at times, but we both agreed I don't want to be treated like an invalid. We keep things as close to normal as we can.

We love it, but my husband is super particular in how he cleans it to get the wild taste out.

@1creekgirl Never thought about that. Guess how long you let it mature and how you clean it all have an effect on the taste
