Experiencing God in Nature

Sitting here alone, all is quiet, and I am getting ready to do my devotional, and choose my listening input for today: I come across one of my old favorites. I haven't heard it in so long, but I will be adding it to all of my playlist. Although this song is about a new Christian, our relationship with God can be both mature and brand new at the same time. I love being outside, even at night, because I can just be in awe at my Father, my Creator's handiwork. It brings me closer to him. This song is so comforting and inspiring, and I need both often. Not to mention it is performed by one of the most beautiful voices God ever created- John Elefante Check out this beautiful song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnbLo9I6fCw

I have so many moments in which I need to still my heart. Jesus is the only one who can, truly, do that.

The photo is so serene. Is it yours? Indeed, it would be great to take time out from the daily grind and just enjoy nature, and the stillness of the night with the moon illuminating your surroundings. I will try to check the song later on because I have never heard of John Elefante. Thank you for sharing the video.

I have even more beautiful pictures, a couple with my daughter walking on the beach at night. I just didn't have time to look through my photo albums.

btw, the picture I used is not mine. It is one that someone sent to me a while back.

We can experience God, in nature, in life, in our love of our fellow man. We should not put anything above God, though, and think that the oceans, for example, can give us peace from it alone. We need to marry God with what we see, to really see God in what we see. "We love life, not because we are used to living, but because we are used to loving." Friedrich Nietzsche, a German philosopher, (1844 to 1900), said this. We experience God in nature, when we love nature, as God's creation, and God as God. Loving nature, or life, without a love for God as well, would leave us cold, without the real fire of God's love within us.

@gnatsmom Thanks. Yes, we should look at nature with awe, seeing the hand of the creator behind it.

Amen! well-said. Nature is a gift from God. It should bring us to worship Him, alone, in awe and humility.
