Disney World is planning to host the largest LGBTQ+ summit in the world this year

Florida's governor, Ron DeSantis, pushed a "Don't Say Gay" bill that passed through the state legislature. It controls what teachers can say in classes, what books can be in school libraries, etc.
Well, the Disney company protested the law so DeSantis wanted to punish it by stripping Disney World of its status as a self-governing province within the state. He sure showed them and now the state of Florida is responsible for paying for police, firefighters, emergency medical services, roads, etc. I'm sure the residents of Florida will be *thrilled* with the tax increases that will be necessary as a result of that change.
It was announced that the largest LGBTQ+ seminar will be held at Disney World in September. That is a giant F-U to Ron DeSantis and his evil culture wars. Good for Disney.

Wow.
They can really control what teachers say in classes.
Mind you, there is an element of that in schools here.
Teachers not allowed to teach History as it happened.
Strange world we live in

I don't care.
If I ever make it to America the whole state of Florida won't be in my top ten...they've alligators and nasty snakes.

@Mike197602 The only part of Florida I'd ever want to see is the Keys, particularly Key West. My only other goal in the US is New Orleans.

True, but he is unbelievably popular with voters there. I would not go there if it was ll free.

Well, my husband is retired and I get social security, too. So doesn't really affect us. Besides, Floridains just really don't care.

@JamesHxstatic There must be a lot of ultra-conservatives in Florida.

But how did he get such a huge majority of votes in the last election?

That's a riot! I wonder if DeSantis will try to block it?

I agree with what Jimbo said. That's definitely a big f*u.to DeSantis.
