Short story: Positivity is not all it is made out to be

John Thompson, was a person, who gave talks to motivate people into having successful lives.
One of the points that he always emphasised in every talk, was for a person not just to try to think positively, on its own.
Positive thinking, on its own, just fills our brain with stuff, that might not end up to be always pertinently useful for us, in our life.
We need to direct positive thinking along a positive channel, of ideas, that can create for us a better life.
We need to find a use for every positive thought, or something else to paste it onto, rather than just to insert it in a scrapbook of positive thoughts, just for that reason alone.
If we just collect positivism, it will do us little good, until we channel the energy into a positive pursuit too.
Positive thinking is fuelled by raw emotion, and emotion, left on its own, in its own stewpot, will just fester after a while, and do us no good in itself.
We should connect our positive emotion to a thinking that is focused, and directed, and will move us along a creative path of creating new ideas, and innovations, for us to follow, so as to make something real of our lives, not just the feeling of positiveness, but without any tangible results to it too.
Thoughts are just thoughts. Emotions are just emotions.
We need to move ourselves forwards with purpose, as we follow an unfolding direction, that is always attached to our life’s mission statement for us, which is written for us, by God, not by ourselves.
It is by far better to love life, than to try to think positive about it.
Fill yourself with God, rather than just with positive emotions of false hype.
Positive thoughts sit on the surface of your mind only. Only love can take you deeper into the real purpose of your life.
Experience the experience, and look for the lesson of love in it, rather than trying to paint it over with a positive paint, all of the time.
We need to stay honest to what we are experiencing rather than glossing past an experience’s real value, by overpainting it too fast with a positive colouring.
Be positive, by all means, but never at the expense of ignoring love, and its direction for your life. Never ignore love, for positivity instead.
Sometimes love will seem to hurt, but do not move away from love, because it does not seem always positive for you in your life.

You could be right.
The law of attraction claims that we can attract stuff to us from the Universe, by our having a certain mindset to do so.
When we live from love, though, we need attract nothing, as all of our needs are supplied by God, who is love personified.
We live from our heart, with our mind towing the line, not from our mind, with it controlling our life, instead.

I recall one acquaintance of mine telling me she used to attend motivational talks by Anthony Robbins etc.
She will be goaded to take over the world with raw enthusiasm and gung-ho spirit but soon they fizzle out.
When we go by love, we can't run out of gas as we get refueled along the way. It proves infectious too.
Love is never overdone and its effect is perennial though may lie inside us but ready on tap.

That's well said, siva.
Yes, enthusiasm is catchy, but never lasts.
Love, on the other hand, lasts forever; once given, it is never forgotten, and its effects linger in us forever too.

@Shiva49 And yet, no life is ever wasted, and serves its own purpose for its soul in some ways.
The trouble is that the world itself goes downhill as a result of these unloving ways of living lives.
Perhaps, a reset is overdue, and the creator will soon throw a spanner into the works to get life to set itself in the right direction again.
Climate change, covid, and the like, might be early variations of this spanner.

@innertalks Thanks Steve.
Yes, material pursuits, when overdone, get us nowhere.
We end up climbing the wrong peaks and realize our folly too late.
I worked for a very wealthy man and at the end of his days, he realized his folly pursuing wealth as the be-all and end-all of his life.
Love leaves indelible footprints on the sands of times long after we are gone.

Well, if I had a choice between being a kind, loving, truthful, and honest person, over being just a positive person, I would choose being the loving one.
We need to be able to have discernment, as sometimes being over-positive, about some particular line, like a certain sport, or game that we like, can be overpowering, and offputting, to others.
In general, though, it is better to be positive than negative, a booster, rather than a killjoy.
