Seriously. After having a hilarious meltdown on Sean Hannity's show last night, South Carolina's senator suggested violence by Trump on his way to turning himself into the Manhattan DA. In two separate tweets, this is what he posted:
"How can President Trump avoid prosecution in New York? On his way to the DA's office on Tuesday, Trump should smash some windows, rob a few stores, and punch a cop. He would be released IMMEDIATELY!"
So there we are--a GOP US Senator suggesting violence, including assaulting a police officer, as a way to avoid arrest. That's not very "back the blue" of him. Back in 2015 and 2016 Graham called Trump "a jackass" and "a kook". He also said that if Trump became the nominee that the GOP would "get destroyed and we will deserve it". He quickly fell in line, though, once that very thing happened and he has been embarrassing himself regularly with his obsequious support.
I get the point that Graham was trying to make--that NYC crime is supposedly out of control and things like robbery and assault are not being prosecuted. The problem is that the MAGA cult members who would actually go to Manhattan to protest Trump's arrest are not particularly smart and they may very well take Graham's words literally. Of course he will receive no GOP pushback for his suggestion of assaulting a police officer. We just have to hope that no one will act on his advice.

Maybe his cult followers should drink some bleach while they're smashing windows and robbing stores. That will cleanse all their sins.

Senator Graham should be ashamed of himself to tell a former President to hit a police officer since an authority figure needs to set a good example for others to follow.
