A bespoke herb and spice shelf

My collection of herbs and spices long ago outgrew one of those cute little racks. There are lots of other styles and designs available, many of which are really appealing and have nice features such as rotating in clever ways or whatever, but none of them are big enough.
So all my herbs and spices were just in a kitchen drawer, with the names written on the lids. But it wasn’t possible to have any sort of system so they were just squeezed in wherever, and I wasted a ridiculous amount of time looking for the particular ones I wanted which was maddening!
But since my partner gave up drinking and we stopped making wine as a consequence, I got rid of the bigger wine rack we had in the kitchen and that freed up a bit of extra space.
And in the garage we had some scraps of board left over from building a kitchen cabinet last year.
So between us we worked out that we had just about enough bits to build a ‘spice-case’ that would hold all the random selection of jars. I even found a length of dowel so we could put little bars across the front of the shelves and protect the jars from falling off, in case someone bumped into it or something.
There wasn’t quite enough to do the bottom shelf (which was planned for the bigger jars) but instead we put a piece of board across that one – will also protect it from getting too dusty from everyone walking past.
This is the result; I’m really pleased (I expect it won’t display properly as it’s a tall thin photo so it’s bound to come out squashed. But hopefully you get the idea!)

It looks like a nice spice rack. I would have guessed you bought it somewhere rather than made it yourselves.

@Fleura You're very welcome. I wish we had one like that. All our herbs and spices are in a cabinet and we have to dig through them to find what we need/want.

That is good because you can see them all at once. I have some strips to hold my spices as well as some lazy susan's in the cupboard that has the majority of the spices. The problem is they aren't all visible at once so I am always having to look for the one I need.
