Just me and the dogs

K left early this morning to go to work. Sophie is on the arm of the couch looking over my shoulder as I write this. Ace is upstairs in the bedroom, snoozing. It is still chilly outside, though it has warmed from 38F/3C to 43F/6C. Soon, I will take the dogs out for a walk when it warms up a little more. I am watching the movie Tomahawk Trail starring Chuck Connor. Am I wrong to be rooting for the Apache? After all, the Apache were the good guys trying to protect their people and their land, and the soldiers were the invaders and conquerors enabling a genocide to make room for greedy European-Americans who felt they were superior to the indigenous people and more deserving of the land. After I walk the dogs, I hope it will be warm enough to move out to the screen house. I have a table and chair set up out there. All I need to do is run the power cord out, and I'll be able to work out there today. How is/was your Monday going?

I hope it warms up for you soon. My dogs were walked first thing in the morning. They couldn’t wait to go out.

Hello there. How are you? It is warming up slowly. The woods are thick here, and it takes a while for the sun to rise high enough to warm things up.

@DianneN I'll be grateful for the warm. The hot, not so much.

Sophie doesn't look terribly big there. Is she still growing or is this an older photo?

She's done growing. She's about 35lbs/18 kg, which is a bit too heavy. The angle of the picture makes her look smaller than she is.

@JudyEv She is a cutie. It's why she gets away with so much.

It's going well so far. I've had time to write some this morning and we got some quickly that I ordered for our air purifiers. It's 49 here, rainy with a too-cool breeze.

We've had a couple of days of sunshine and are beginning to dry out. The lake level is still higher than normal, though, and the air temp is still too cold to go kayaking.

In the harsh realities of evolution, no matter how inhumane it may all have been, to some extent, it was inevitable. Stronger groups of humans have been displacing weaker groups since we first started walking upright.

@DWDavis I seem to recall reading an article about how the spreading European empires managed to snuff out the beginnings of a Polynesian empire, in the Pacific . If one group doesn't exploit, than another will, I guess!

I'm winding down now. Monday wasn't that busy though I had a few meetings and just a little work to do. Currently watching "Who are We Running from" on Netflix and mylotting but will hit the bed very soon.

I have not walked my puppy on the street yet. But I do let him play on our roof here twice a day.

I'm trying to picture the puppy playing on the roof. My house has a slanted roof. The pups would roll right off.

When I was a child 'Cowboys and Indians' was still a game we used to play. But I was always an Indian.

Sounds like a good day for you and the doggies. Enjoy your walk with them and time in the screen house. No, I don't think that you are wrong in rooting for the Apache Indians. My great-grandparents were Choctaw Indians who were forced to leave their home and go to the Oklahoma territory on the Trail of Tears.
