Red Tulips

Amsterdam is famous for growing tulips. They have farms and one has to know when they are in season and be there to experience it.
We missed the season by 15 days and were quite disappointed. Tulips are grown there either mixed or in a particular colour I was imagining what it would be like to have a look at a farm with just red tulips.
Picked this photo from wikimedia commons just to get some satisfaction. Something is better than nothing.

When I visited NY a few years ago, I saw actual ones. It was one of my favorite flowers because they were hard to find here and didn't stay very long due to the weather, so I seldom ever saw one in here. To make them last longer, they were typically refrigerated.

@allknowing True but they have it NY and Washington DC too. We went there in springtime and we were able to see flowers blooming of every kind. One of them was tulips which was so nice to look at. Well it is not like the ones in Amsterdam where they are planted en masse though

Tulip season lasts quite a long in The Netherlands. Tulip Festival this year started the past March 23rd and it will end on May 14rd. I remember we flew from the Amsterdam airport to Aruba on a May 1st and we could see all those beautiful tulips from the aircraft.

I remember. We were there in May but after the season. My birthday May 24 was celebrated in Rotterdam and we left thereafter.

@allknowing - The season usually ends by mid-May. I remember that it is usually around my husband's birthday, that is the 14th of May.

Some conditions are ideal for tulips growing but we do not have such conditions here.
