Yesterday's trip down town.

My cappuccino with soy milk

We didn't need to get much yesterday when we went shopping, but my Mum wanted to get some money out of the bank and put her repeat prescription into Boots ready for next week, so we decided to have our lunch out and go to the cafe opposite the Cathedral again. It promised rain so we both wore our coats with hoods on and gloves. It was spitting when we went out. I went out the back door with the trolley and Mum went out the front door with her walker. I went round the front and met my Mum at the front door and off we went. I was worried we would be late for the bank because last time we went they closed at 12:00 midday. But I needn't have worried because they'd changed their opening times back again now and they close now at 3:00pm. My Mum got her money out and then we sat on a settee in the bank for a few minutes before popping Mum's repeat prescription into Boots. After that we went into the photo expert shop because Mum wanted to enquire about having her photo taken for a photo identity card because you're going to need one now if you want to vote and Mum doesn't have either a driver's license or a passport. We didn't need to go into Holland and Barrett so we went into Tesco and got some strawberries, a cucumber and an areo bar for me as a treat. Then we went to the Works because Mum wanted to get some pens because she's fed up of using those free pens you get from charities or Damart that keep running out! Next we went to Bistro No.19 opposite the Cathedral to get our lunch. The only vacant table we could find was a small round one by the door to one of the rooms and there wasn't room for both the trolley and Mum's walker so Mum went and put her walker over the other side of the room by the window. I went to the toilet first, then came back There wasn't a menu to be seen anywhere so we both decided to have a garden breakfast and a cappuccino with soy milk. My Mum asked me to go and fetch them because she didn't think she'd be able to get out of the chair! I went into the room where you order stuff and asked for 2 garden breakfasts. But the girl said they don't do breakfasts anymore! I thought, WHAT? I asked them if they had anything vegan and they said no, only soup. So I said I'd go and have a word with my Mum. So I went and told her and she said, so what did you do? And I said nothing yet, I just came to tell you. So we decided to just have the cappuccinos with soy milk, and I knew they had that because I saw a carton of it on the side. So I went and ordered that and paid for it and then went back to my seat. It didn't take long for it to come. So we drank those and I finished first so I started taking pictures while I was waiting for my Mum to finish hers. (See above) Then we decided to go somewhere else to find something to eat. We went to the toilet first, and I found a disabled toilet on the way to the kitchens so my Mum went to that. I went in a normal one. We went all over town looking for a place that did vegan. Eventually, when I was almost giving up hope, we came upon the Jungle Street Kitchen where a Travel Agents used to be. So we went in there and there were so many options it was hard to choose! They had quite a few vegetation meals with (VEO) (which means Vegan Option available.) After ages deciding what to have, I decided to have a rainbow salad, vegan option and Mum opted for Jerk Chicken. I asked one of the waitresses if they had a toilet I could use, and she said, yes, just down the corridor. So I made my way down there and I saw the male loo, but when I saw the females loo it had a notice on saying "Out Of Order, Please Use Male Toilet". So I tried the door of the male loo but it was locked and then I heard a flushing noise and then a lady came out! There was only the one loo. I did my business as quickly as possible and went back to my seat. I was sitting on a bench seat by the wall and my Mum was sitting on a plastic seat opposite. It didn't take long for the food to come. While we were waiting Mum used my phone to phone my step-dad and tell him what we were doing. It went to answer phone so my Mum left a message and she said we should be back by 4:00 pm. I said we won't be back by 4:00pm (it was twenty to already!) so Mum said, OK, 5:00pm. (As it turned out we got home about 5:30pm!) My rainbow salad was very tasty. It had broccoli, lettuce (various types) corgette, tomatoes, pomegranate seeds and hummus with a sesame sauce. Yum! Mum liked her Jerk Chicken and chips, but thought the sauce was a bit hot! We'll be going there again. They do do Vegan breakfasts but only between the hours of 9:00am and 12:00 midday. I want to try all the vegan options, to see which I like best, and also some things with prawns or fish in them. (As you know I'm not actually vegan, but macrobiotic, so I do eat fish and seafood.) By this time the rain was coming down a lot heavier. We had thought of going to Iceland for some garlic bread but we changed our minds and decided to go straight home. It was pouring it down when we were walking home! As we were coming round towards our street passed the allotments there was a really massive puddle in the road, and this white car came down the street and through the puddle soaking us through! "Nice! Thank you!" I shouted! A lady came passed and said, Are you alright? And I said, Yeah, just wet! At last we got home and got out of our wet clothes. I left the trolley, and my shoes, socks and gloves out to dry. I put my gloves on my radiator! Mum went upstairs to tell my step-dad about our day. I put the strawberries and cucumber away, and sat down and had a cup of tea and ate my chocolate. What did you get up to yesterday? I hope you are all well. Have a nice day.

That's a shame you got wet. I got soaked by a passing bus once. It was awful.

Thank you very much. We were getting wet with the rain anyway, but that made it so much worse! I'm sorry you got soaked by a passing bus.
