Way, way back in 1965, there was a club in Hollywood, owned by a jazz drummer named Shelly Mann. The club was called Shelly’s Manne-Hole, just off Hollywood Boulevard on Caheunga. My Uncle Bob worked there as sous chef (head chef assistant) and it was great for food, but even more so for music. The best known names in jazz played there and one of then was a great piano man named Horace Silver and his band, which included some of the best jazz musicians around. I’ve had an album for a very long time, recorded that year by Horace Silver, called The Cape Verdean Blues. It’s so good and I will add a link below to one of the songs. But, another great thing about it is that it was a gift from Horace Silver to my uncle for taking good care of the band, feeding them well. In blue ballpoint on the back, it is signed by Horace Silver, “To Bob, Sincerely, Horace Silver. The album is fairly valuable now, but I’ll never sell it.

Things like that especially autographed have great sentimental value. I will take a look at what they have on YouTube for him.

That's great that you have a signed copy of the album. Such things have great sentimental value.
