A Club in Hollywood

Way, way, back in 1965, there was a jazz piano man, Horace Silver and he was playing at another jazz man's club in Hollywood called Shelly's Manne-Hole. My Uncle Bob Allen, a WW 11 vet and great tap dancer (before he broke his ankle) and also an army-trained cook worked at that club as sous chef, doing, I guess, what sous chefs do, which is run the kitchen when the head chef is off or out. Anyway, here is this great jazz group playing songs like you can hear in the link below and Mr. Horace Silver thought my uncle did such a good job with the food, that he signed the album he released that year & gave it to Bob. I have had it now for many years and treasure it.

He was a great piano player and composer too. His best known piece is "Song for My Father." It's a melody that stays with you.

@JamesHxstatic There are loads of videos available of him. Someone went to a lot of trouble of putting old film onto newer type of formats

Everyone appreciates good food and bands probably eat a lot of fairly ordinary food on their travels.

@JamesHxstatic And Damian knows well of Ahmad Jamal. He said his bass player is also exceptionally talented and quite a bit older than Ahmad. He (Damian) used a lot of the bass player's transcriptions in his college lessons.

Wow, that is something to be proud of. It might be valuable today, Of course it's sentimental value is greater. I would surely hang onto it.
