There will be a delay in planting our tower garden this year

Can you see the little mama in the photo? She is sitting on a nest with at least 3 eggs in it. K discovered her quite by accident on Saturday when she went to lift the small plastic fencing off the top of the tower garden. The mama flew out, and K spotted the nest. I went to look and saw the eggs. Yesterday, I carefully and quietly approached and looked under the fencing to see if the mama had returned. She had. That's when I took the picture. I checked again when I got home today, and she was still there. We're hoping the eggs are okay with the cooler air we're having this week. If all works out, I will take some pictures of the babies when they hatch. Have you ever found a bird's nest in an unusual place?

That is cute. The eggs will be fine. Momma will make sure of that

@wolfgirl569 Sadly, it appears the nest has been abandoned. I don't know if the cold nights caused it or the noise of the dogs and us in the yard caused it. It makes me sad.

That’s so neat. Birds used to come to our deck an build nests just under the roof of the deck. When the eggs hatched little birds would fly around on the deck. I kept a bowl of water for them and bird seed. They stopped coming and I don’t know why.

It would be interesting to learn where the birds went.

@DWDavis I’ve often wondered an the only thing I can come up with cats. Cats wander around on the ground but I live on the second floor and no cats are up here.

@m_audrey6788 I'm afraid the nest has been abandoned. I don't know if it was the cold weather or the commotion of us and our dogs in the backyard.

No weird places around here for the birds to nest. That’s so sweet with those eyes looking at you.

What a cutie! Glad she found a safe place to have her children, I have never had a bird with a nest in the garden I had in Latvia. Just had lots of birds coming to eat.

We don't put out bird feeders or seeds, but there is abundant forage for the birds in our woods. We've had nests in our hanging plants before. One on the tower garden is a first.

Once my Mum left a yardbrush outside the back door, leaning against the wall bristles up. And the next time she came to use it she found a bird had built a nest on the upturned bristles! It stayed there on the nest as my Mum and Dad came and went, and didn't seem to mind. I guess life there was pretty quiet most of the time!

@JudyEv Well, I don't know if it was us or the cold, but the nest has been abandoned. She built it while we were away. I fear the commotion of us and the dogs in the backyard drove her off.

@DWDavis That's good. It would be awful if she abandoned the nest.
