Good morning from this side of the planet.
And maybe by the time I finish writing this post and posting it, it would be noon here
. It's 11:45 AM.
Yay!! Friday is here
. I am sure that many would be excited to have another weekend here
It's vacation time for me and till May, weekends and weekdays don't matter to me
.
Done a lot since morning. Today we went for morning walk to the nearby park in the neighborhood with a beautiful man made lake with cute ducks and swans there. It's 1 km away from my home. We took a few rounds there and what my husband's phone says is that we walked for 9 kilometres at one go
.
It was nice to see some trees in a row there still covered with pink blooms
. I don't see them anymore on this side. So, we clicked few pictures. I would ask husband to share it with me so that I can share it here
.
Back home finished few chores and served breakfast to all. Husband is working from home and I am going to make chicken curry for my family. I have already done the preparation and finished with the vegetarian dishes for myself. I will enter the kitchen in some time to cook chicken.
I skipped the breakfast. I had a banana before going for the walk.
Right now, I am relishing few pieces of this yummy jackfruit ( in the picture). It's fresh from my friend's farmhouse. No one in my house likes it because of the strong smell. But I just love it
. I know that it's not a diabetic friendly fruit. And that's why I skipped my breakfast to have it. I want to enjoy it a few times before the season ends.
Going to read your discussions and respond. I might come to the notifications later after cooking.
Have a good time in your myLot corner

@arunima25 We should really keep up the walks when we get home. We really do need to walk more.

@JudyEv We all should. It's a good exercise. But you got enough fun and outdoor activities on this vacation too. I assume that you are back home now.

@youless I couldn't withstand a Durian smell when I found it in Singapore. I couldn't eat it. But then I tried durian jam and it was the best jam that I ever had..I bet that the fruit is delicious.

I know. Many can't stand the strong smell or they don't like the too much sweetness. My husband finds it too much sweet for his palate.

It's actually very tasty. I didn't have to open it. I bought it from my friend who has a farmhouse and sells organic fruits and vegetables. I took 200 g of it and it came beautifully packed in a box with these pieces.

I like jackfruit especially with shaved ice, milk, sugar, and other fruit ingredients which we call "halo-halo" or in English, mix-mix.
Chicken curry is also one of my favorite dishes. I will request my DIL to cook chicken curry for dinner.

Good that you have enough to relish once they are ready. I sent the picture to my mother. She told that the Jackfruits in her backyard are not yet ripe. She is using them to make spicy curry.

Oh! I see. Well, many people don't like it either for the strong smell or because of it being too sweet. I am okay with both and just relish it
.
How about you? Do you like it??

I don't think I can compare it to anything else. It has a strong sweet smell, too strong to be liked by many. Even Durian fruit has a very strong smell but that's actually repelling. I can't stand Durian smell. Jackfruit smell is not pungent or repelling.

It might not be grown there and so you would have not seen it. It's a huge fruit and cutting it to take out these pulpy pieces is a bit of work. Glad that it was done and I got these packed.
We use raw jackfruit for making curries.

@Fleura Yes, you might have. Here, in India canned fruits don't have much demand..Most people want to have fresh in season fruits.

I just love jackfruit..I would like to have them a few more times before season ends. Mangoes and Jackfruit are available for very short time. I want to enjoy them before season ends and also make sure that I don't spike my sugar too much
Hope you are having a good time

Summer is the season for jackfruit. I sent this picture to my mom..The jackfruit in her backyard is still not ripe. They are enjoying the raw ones in spicy curry.
I hope you get it soon to satisfy your craving.
