Imagine!

Imagine a world with no police, no doctors or nurses. Who would we call when we need help? Where to go when there is a medical emergency, an accident, natural disasters... I am just wondering if people who work in these very essential services get paid enough. In my view their pay package should be very high. What do you think? Are doctors , nurses and police being paid enough in your country? Ever thought how we would survive without them? Any ideas how one could survive without them? Pixabay image.

I have always said the high paid athletes' salaries should go to these emergency officials. They all put their lives on the line with their jobs. The athletes are all paid millions, way too much in my opinion.

I encourage anyone who thinks police officers make too much money to go take a look at the paycheck of the officer. In the United States at least, it's mostly pathetic. My dad's older brother was a police officer, killed in the line of duty. The pay was poor, people hate you because of your uniform before you even speak, and you could die for stopping someone who was speeding. But my uncle did it because he had a heart for people. My two best friends are nurses. They are paid well. However, it is still NOT enough. They put up with too much crap, including from doctors who treat them poorly. Not all certainly, but some do. I also remember one of my friends was actually physically attacked at her last place of work by a patient. Doctors? Yes, I think they get paid enough. They also get all the glory. But, I could be wrong.

@Kandae11 I definitely don't want to say there is never corruption, and in many countries it is downright insane. But like you, if there were no police around, I would not be sticking around either.

Where l live there is some corruption in the force probably because of their pay not being enough. There is always a battle over pay and incentives, this should not be. If l woke up one morning and found that all the police are gone. I would pack what l could and flee to the hills with my family. Yes nurses and doctors do get attacked in the public hospitals.

They should be paid well but I think here it goes by tax money to pay them. I could be wrong. I have heard people say football players earn much more than a police officer.

@Kandae11 probably with any big sport that would be the case. Around here people don’t follow soccer much it’s all football so that’s all I’ve heard about.

I remember that terrifying experience we just had with the pandemia. All hospitals were working at full capacity with the covid and only urgent situations that were not due to covid were accepted. I don´t think that they are paid enough. But I do think that the owners and big bosses of hospitals and policemen earn too much.

I think private doctors earn enough. - not those in the government hospitals. Whenever l visit a private doctor, the office is always full from morning to evening and they charge the equivalent of 40 U.S just for consultation pet person. Tests would be extra.

Here in Switzerland they are paid enough. In my native country (Italy) they receive a ridiculous salary.

@Kandae11 - Policemen are very well paid in this country and nurses get a salary that is the double than they get in Italy. We have many Italian nurses here. Doctors are over paid both here and in Italy.

@LadyDuck. Here l know as a fact private doctors make a whole lot of money, but those who work only in the government hospitals do not.

They are invaluable to the community. I don't know what they are paid, but I'm sure it's not enough for what they do for us.

My grandmother was a nurse. yeah those people do need a higher pay. Although covid messed things up because alot of nurses and doctors leave the job because it is too much.

I think they should be paid more. In the ancient days they had a government I'm sure and taxes paid for these people, they were probably really good with a sword in groups. Or people and families formed gangs to put out word that they better not be messed with. As for doctors you had the good ole medicine woman
