My Phone is Scary

The other day, my friend and I were out doing errands. We decided we should go to lunch. We were near a restaurant called Millers. I said I wonder if they have a lunch menu. My phone was off, but it suddenly came to life with a pop-up that showed a wing special at Millers. My phone is so intrusive that it is scary to have it with me. I wonder what it will do next. Is your phone ever scary? Has it ever surprised you?

Your phone was asleep, not "off". It's only off if you power it completely down and don't turn it back on again. Otherwise your phone is always listening to everything you say.

I don't put it to sleep. We do need our phones alive and available in case of emergency. I just was creeped out because it popped up like that. What happens to the information it collects by always listening?

@DaddyEvil I hate that. My private life should be private. And I wish they would not sell my information.

@akalinus If wishes were fishes, we'd all walk on the sea.

@Shivram59 I can't explain it. There is no reason for anyone to care what I am thinking or talking about when I am not on my phone.

I have heard some pretty eerie stories about people and their devices, especially involving Siri and Alexa.

Alexa can be super creepy at times. It suddenly starts talking to itself and saying goofy stuff.

That is scary. I don't think I have ever had that experience. Now Alexa, if she thinks she hears her name will pipe right up.

Sometimes, I think Alexa was programmed by demons. I was glad when we turned it off.

@RubyHawk A lot of people think so. They don't need to know every little thing.

A friend of mine told me a similar story. Technology is getting out of hand

What do you think they do with all the information they discover? Why do they care what I had for lunch?

I think the phones are programmed to only last a certain amount of times and updates. Sometimes, you can pay for a new one by monthly payments on your phone bill.
