Warner Brothers Are at it Again

Looking for something to watch yesterday morning and came across a good Gary Cooper movie, Bright Leaf. It came out in 1950 and was about Brant Royle who comes back to his hometown to settle his uncle's estate. Lauren Bacall and Patricia Neal are his love interests. I don't care for the character Cooper plays but this is a great movie. Great characters, great acting, and, a great storyline. Another great one to add to Warner Brother's list of greats. And, now, if that wasn't enough, I'm watching The Best Little Whore House in Texas. So many good parts to this great old movie made in 1982. When the television evangelist starts broadcasting about getting rid of the 'chicken ranch' Sherriff Ed Earl calls him a fancified fart and tells him if he doesn't get out of town he is going to knock him so flat he will have to roll down his socks in order to take a sh*t. And Dolly's character has the line: "When you see someone without a smile give them yours". Good one, huh? Warner Brothers produced some of the best movies ever made. Whenever I see a good one I watch at the end and, sure enough--it's another Warner Brothers production.

Wonder why Bright Leaf isn't better known if it's so great, certainly great actors in it.

I have never seen Best Little Whorehouse, but I remember Dolly doing an interview on how difficult making that movie was. Apparently, she had had such a good experience with “9 to 5” that she was unprepared for how tumultuous that particular film shoot for “…Whorehouse” would be.

Thanks for the critiques. I've seen Whorehouse but not Bright Leaf. Wishing you a Happy Monday.
