How significant is a child's childhood friendship?

Personally speaking, childhood friendship is a good thing for children to experience. It is how they started to socialize with others at a young age. They can treat them as their close friends in life. I, myself had friends during my childhood years. However, we lost in contact when we started to enter our universities.
Do you still communicate with the childhood buddies you made?

I lost contact ages ago because my childhood home is in a far-flung, mountainous area where transportation is difficult. I wish I could go there and reconnect with them, However, I am not sure if they're still living here. Perhaps, they migrated just like me.

I haven't seen any of my childhood friends in decades. I don't know where they live or phone numbers for them.

I just did a discussion about my childhood friend, and included a picture of her. She transferred to my school when I was eleven, in 7th grade. I keep in contact with a few childhood friends I've known since about the age of five, but while close until high school, we're more like friendly acquaintances now. My 7th grade friend though, will always have my back, and I will have hers.

I have a lot of childhood friends from school, my neighborhood, and vacation. We're in our late fifties and still going out for some time, having coffee or something to enjoy. Childhood friends are treasures to keep and we are so comfortable to each other in whatever way.

I have a couple of them and we are still in regular touch. We studied together from Kindergarten to High school, but later departed due to various choices of careers and colleges.

@Shavkat Hmm... understandable! We all embark on different life journey.
I am happy that despite that few of us still stay connected.
