Short story: The boy who never liked learning until his father showed him how learning is about our loving God, and our teachers, too

Part of our living must be our learning

A young lad asked his father, who just happened to me a Minister of religion, why it is that one has to learn anything while here in our lives, on the Earth. "I hate going to school," he said, to his father, one day. "Why can't we just live as God lives, learning nothing, but being all, knowing all, without the drudge of learning it?" he further put to his father, the Reverend Samuel Bluestone. His father, smiled, and answered him like this: "What makes you think that God does not learn?" "Now, in the Bible, Jesus told his disciples in Saint John's gospel, chapter 15, verse 15, that '"Everything that I learned from my Father, I have made known to you."' "and so this infers that Jesus himself needed to be taught, and that he too, needed to learn things from his father." "If this is so, the Father, or God, must know more than the Son, or Jesus." "The truth is though that God is still learning too, and he shares his learning with others, his son especially so. God learns from what he has done, and in effect, God is active in his learning, as we all are when we do anything too." "God might be thought of as all-knowing, but some things, not part of this, are still open in him to learn, like the best way to treat his creation overall, for example." "So, my boy, we must all buckle down, and learn our school lessons, as well as our life lessons." "Remember too, what that great Italian artist, scientist, and inventor, once said:" '"Learning never exhausts the mind."' "Leonardo da Vinci, (1452 to 1519)." "You more exhaust yourself, by your not wanting to learn. Real learning energises you. It never depletes you of the energy to learn." "When you do your best to learn, you are also loving the teacher, God, and yourself, when you do this too. Life was created so that we can learn whilst we live it." The boy made a greater effort to learn then, after this talk with his father. I agree with the explanation to the son to cause him to study and learn. Some of what you said though, I disagree with.

Thanks. I like writing up ideas as a short story, as it gives readers the opportunity to agree, or disagree, and so adds to the discussion.

@just4him Thanks. I like to give some 'food for thought,' as well as entertain.

AI's Chat Gpt is helping people to learn without using their brains. Soon the world will become brain lazy and we won't know who has studied and who hasn't.

Yes, real learning mixes thinking with energy, or enthusiasm, (love) for the learning. To just fill our brains with stuff, without learning it, in a way that it makes us wiser, is not the right type of learning in my book.

Right, Life itself is a learning process. As we live our lives, we never stopped learning. We learn from everything, the things around us, the people we interact with, the events happening around us, and many more. Learning is a life-long process.

Yes, it is, but sometimes, as in everything else, we need to even take a break from learning in one way to learn in another way. We need to stay open to all ways to learn. We can even learn by praying to God, and listening to his replies. We can learn from our nightly dreams too. We just have to try to see the lesson in the experience to learn something from it, which usually, in life learning, contains a lesson in loving too.

Learning need not be a chore but enjoyable too as the image depicts. It is said learning never stops and continues till our last breath. Maybe, it will continue later too. In fact. learning keeps us alive every moment. The spirit of inquiry is inborn in us but a few just lose it.

Yes, even if we are not with it, or capable, anymore to learn consciously, we are still learning unconsciously, and our soul is still growing at all times from our life, and our living it, until we finally leave our body. The spirit of enquiry come into us from our soul, and is brought to life in us more, when we follow our life purpose, and our Soul mission for our life.

@Shiva49 Yes, with our soul, embedded in God, at our backs, we can not go very far wrong.

@innertalks Yes, try to stay connected with our soul and through that the universal, and then we are well on our way to a sublime life ready to face life as it is.
