Can you explain to me how Jehovah's Witnesses can state they are Christian when they say that Christ is not God?

I see this question was posted a year ago and i see no one has responded. its not that christ isn't a god, he's just not the most high. jehovah is jesus's father, jehovah is the almighty god and jesus is might god. jehovah sent jesus to earth, jehovah got mary pregnant thru his hold spirit, before she married joseph and mary gave birth to jesus. joseph married mary after jesus was born. what bible do you have, its all in the bible. some bibles took out jehovah's name and replaced it with lord. jesus is lord but jehovah's name lord is with "L" and jesus name lord is with the small l.

Sorry but Jesus IS God. He came to Earth to live and die among us. There is no better way for a creator to show his love. The bible is full of verses stating Jesus is God. http://bibleprobe.com/jesus-is-God.htm You can find different Bible versions here. http://www.biblegateway.com/quicksearch/?quicksearch=Jesus+is+God&qs_version=31

Well, there are lots of cult churches or belief in the world. I guess it's the power of the main leaders in this religion that able to twist the real truth that we believe in Christ!

I am not a JW - nor any other religion for that matter - but I do know that to be any kind of Christian literally means to believe in Christ, whether that means to believe in him as God or the son of God. Jehovah's Witnesses are by no means the only Christian religion who believe that Jesus is the son of God and not God himself.

Ummm...I was raised Methodist, & I learned that Christ is the son of God....Not trying to put down what you learned, but from what I know, all Christian religions teach the same thing...

Many Catholics also believe that God was God and Christ was his son. But would you say the Pope is not Christian? They are Christians because they strive to follow the ways of Christ. But all do not believe, even though they see that Christ was one of the most spiritual beings to have walked the Earth, that he is God and see them as seperate entities. One is the spiritual essence and creator, the other a product with the human Mary as his son. Hope this helps. All Christians do not believe Christ was more than God's SON. (And I am not even Christian, so the fact that I know this is really interesting!-But I ahve talked to Christain scholars in the past and keep an open mind? So this was told to me by a very reputable source..a cardinal of the Catholic church!)

Gee, my mom and dad are Catholic? This never happened in thier church. I am sorry you ended up with a dud priest. In the one my parents went to there was lively debate in Sunday shcools and lots of talk about Jesus and his life that's known in the Bible and about God. I am sorry to hear your experience seemed so dull, but that's not the case in many Catholic churches? Some priests educate more and stinulate the parishoners' minds more than others, I guess.

People can claim to be a pelican but it does not mean they can fly. I agree with you, many religions who do not see Christ as their Saviour do not understand what it is to be a Christian.

That's because christ isn't god. He is the son of god.

I should say that is the belief. That's not mine though. Jesus was just a man.

it is simple read these bible messages and understand and compare (I used King James Version for all of these, i inserted some capitalization & verification to help you see the differences) the rest is up to you. Psalms 83:18 : that men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the MOST HIGH over all the earth. Luke 1:31-32: And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy (Mary's) womb,a dn bring forth a son, and shall call his name JESUS, He shall be great, and shall be called the SON OF THE HIGHEST, the LORD (referring to Jehovah) shall give unto him the throne of his father David. John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was WITH God, and the Word was God." John 10:34 "Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, "I said, Ye, are gods"? my personal comment is: God is a noun, a title not a personal name that could be denoted to everybody, even money, stomach etc. are can be call as gods. now, as of John 1:1 Jesus was refered as god, which is true because he is the Son of the Most High, but the bible teaches us to worship, not Jesus, but his father the Most High, whose name is Jehovah, that means True Christians should worship Jehovah through Jesus Christ. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ" John 17:3

If you want to be specific, Christ is not God, but the son of God. Christ is also our savior.

They may consider themselves Christian because they follow the teachings of Christ without necessarily believing in his divinity. Over the millenia there has been a lot of disagreement among different sects of Christianity about the precise nature of Christ's divinity, with some rejecting the idea entirely. It's normal for one sect to claim another's beliefs are heresy because they differ on crucial points of doctrine. While many Christians would argue that Witnesses are not Christian, there is in fact nobody with a position of authority over all the different churches who could decide who qualifies as Christian and who doesn't. If you call yourself a Christian, you will nearly always find somebody, somewhere, willing to accept that definition of yourself.

I studied with Jehovah's Witnesses as a Teenager simply because my mother was into it at the time. Altho I still get alot of slack for it even tho many have let them into there house and spoken to Witnesses all over the world. In my opinion now that I'm 45 I would say to anyone to refer to John 3:16 to my knowledge even for Christians this is a very valuable verse in the bible. I consider myself to be a Christian.

They say this because their founder was a very corrupt Freemason. Charles Taze Russell, the founder of the Jehovah Witnesses is burried beneath the pyramid and all-seeing eye. You are right, you cannot be a Christian and believe anything less than Jesus as being God in the flesh come to redeem His creation. There are so many wholes in their NWT that it is truly pathetic and inexcuseable. http://www.spotlightministries.org.uk/russellspyramid.htm

That is because Jesus is the Son of God and not the Almighty God himself. Jesus never started a religion - rather he started a way of life. Christians are followers of Jesus and his teachings. No where did he teach us to worship him.

they can state they are christian because christians along with all other religions make up their own rules to fit their circumstances. All religion i feel is man made and therefore it doesnt really matter where one sect places its own version of hypocracy
