My Favorite Toy from Years Back

Most children have a special toy, they place relatively high value on. For me, it was a baby doll that I gave the name, "Micah." My parents tried to correct me and give this baby the name, 'Mike.' Why? Because my father's nickname was 'Mike.' Nope, I didn't accept this change of his name. One day, Dad was fixing our toaster and he mentioned the word micah. I guess it was some type of metal, used inside this kitchen appliance. I was all ears, at two-three years old. This name stuck in my mind, for some reason. Anyway, 'Micah' became my best friend, everyone else played second fiddle. One time, Micah came up missing. Our family combed the house top to bottom, but couldn't find my special friend. I had a heavy heart, even though they promised to buy me a different doll. A while later, my father was spooning sugar into his morning cup of coffee. What did he find buried in the sugar bowl? Yup, it was Micah my baby doll! I often liked to play in the sugar with a spoon, while Dad was eating breakfast. They surmised that Kharla forgot, she had buried Micah in the sugar My mother kept this doll tucked away in a drawer for many years. After I became a grow-up, Mom presented me with this doll, who used to live inside my pocket!

That’s such a great story, and especially great because you still have it!

My family has many keepsakes, that have little to no value, with anyone else.

That IS special. It's amazing the toys we choose to get attached to.

I carried that silly doll around, for years! When I started school, Mom made me leave Micah at home, so he wouldn't get lost:)

How sweet to hear that! It seems if something missing, sometimes we needn't to find it. No matter how hard you try, you can't find it anyway. But when you stop finding it, it will pop up suddenly My son has a stuffed polar bear as a toy since he was a little boy. Now this bear still stays with him and my mom often crochets new sweaters to it I remember in the past this bear was disappeared as well as Micah. Oh... We all tried to find it out everywhere since it was a big deal! I really hate those moments

That's why Jay never keeps a sugar bowl on the counter. I might bury a toy in it!

What wonderful memories you have. I have some sort of memories of a black baby doll. I was wrapped in a blue blanket and I carried it everywhere. I was already showing the kind of person I would be and skin color did not matter. I was hoping this doll might show up in some of my childhood photos because I remember my time with the doll but I do not recall what it was called or what happened to it. After that I guess it was this plastic doggy on yellow wheels I took with me everywhere because mom and dad did not want a pet in our apartment,

I chose a black baby doll, when I was about four years old. They tried to discourage me, it was a Birthday gift. I insisted, so that's what I got! I loved it, very much:)

That's neat that you still have it. I had a doll I named Margret that was my special friend for years.

@kobesbuddy Mine didn't care for stuffed animals, they loved trucks and anything with wheels on it.

Sweet that you still have the doll. Wasn't Micah an Old Testament prophet?

Yes, this is ironic that you just mentioned this. Mom and Dad both became Christians and yes, Micah was definitely al Old Testament prophet! I read through the book of Micah, not too long ago:)

Other than our bikes, skateboards or some sporting equipment my brother and I spent many hours playing with our Rock Em Sock Em robots game.
