I used to read all the time. On breaks at work, in the morning, before bed, in the bathtub. If I wasn't doing something that needed all of my attention, I was reading. However, I haven't been able to do that or found a book to really hold my attention in a while. A couple of weeks ago I decided I wanted to change that and started reading "Ready Player One" by Earnest Cline. We watch the movie often and I love it. I am also a bit of a nerd and if you haven't seen it- the movie has PLENTY of pop culture/science fiction/nerdy references. I had never read the book though, so I decided to do that. It was extremely different than the movie. The base of the plot is set in a dystopian future. That isn't really that far away. The book is set in the 2040s. The world has all pretty much become obsessed with escaping the real reality of the world and spends pretty much 24/7 in the OASIS which is a virtual reality world. Well one of the founders of the OASIS dies and makes a contest so one of the players in the OASIS can inherit his shares of the company and a bunch of money. It's a pretty good book and actually hits a little close to home with how badly the country has gone downhill in the last four years. There are plenty of similarities between the way the world is in the book and where I fear our world is headed if the powers that be keep making the financial decisions for our county. And really if you think about it, 2040 is not that far away at all. If you haven't read the book, and are a reader I suggest you check it out. It's about three hundred pages and is a fairly easy read. If you aren't a reader then I suggest you check out the movie. It's really a good movie even if you aren't a nerd. I have linked the book since this series is on books, not movies. But a quick Google search or IMDB search will let you know everything you need to know about the movie.

I remember when the movie came out. I don’t remember if it did well or not.

I didn’t see you right when it came out so I don’t know. But I think it is fairly well, it was a Steven Spielberg movie.

I used to be an avid reader, but not so much now. My problem is, when I start a book, I just want to keep reading it until I’m finished. But who has time these days to read a book from cover to cover in on sitting? I sure don’t. I haven’t seen the movie, but it does seem like it would be a great book to read.

@thislittlepennyearns I hardly ever watch movies. TV shows, movies and reading books all seem to be distant memories in my past.

It's funny how some of these dates that once seemed eons off are now almost on our doorsteps.

Exactly. I got to thinking. That it's not that far away in the big picture.
