SHE'S ON A MISSION and dangerously off the grid... After an undercover mission gone wrong, agent Mina August is on the run from the FBI and The Madame, a ruthless brothel owner. Her mantra: trust no one. But alone and permanently disabled, the cunning beauty must trust her ex-partner Roman Jacobs to take her side in a deadly cat-and-mouse game. Can she fight her true feelings for Roman to stay professional... and alive? Book One in the new Harlequin Intrigue romance series SECURE ONE. ~~~~ Author Katie Mettner is an amputee, a result of a car accident. She felt it was necessary to have stories readers could relate to. Enter Mina August who starts off the story with a severely damaged foot she knows will be irreparable. She is an FBI agent. She is woman. And she is strong-willed... except when it comes to her partner Roman. This book is so well written and so intriguing and exciting. Romantic suspense is my favourite genre and I just loved this story. I hear there are more to come in this series and I can hardly wait. I've only read one other Katie Mettner book (A Christmas at Gingerbread Falls) and as great as that story was, this was even better. I was just taken in by the writing. What great writing, great storytelling, wonderful mystery and intrigue, and an awesome romance. You really shouldn't miss this one!

It sounds like a good one, and I’m sure people appreciate a heroine being written in a less than perfect way.

No one is perfect, some less than others. It is nice to keep than in mind when writing. Readers want to be able to relate to the characters in some way. They also want to cheer for the underdog. This book is that.

Harlequin has evolved throughout the years with different categories of romances, like this one in Harlequin Intrigue.

I have a book with me at all times. Never know when you'll have to sit in a waiting room with time to kill.

@patgalca That's for sure. I have one in the door of the car. It's come in useful a few times.
