Good day to you all, hope you all have had a good Tuesday.
The other day I talked about what was the first Rock N Roll song. Got me thinking about the first concert I ever went to. It was a long time ago and I was trying to remember if it was REO Speedwagon, Deep Purple, maybe Ted Nugent. Was so long ago I kind of forgot.
I know that they were all somewhere around 1984. I believe it might have been REO in 1983 or 1984. An older cousin of mine took me to see REO with Cheap Trick at a place called Poplar Creek, in Northern Illinois. Both bands were from Illinois, REO was from Champaign, Illinois and Cheap Trick from Rockford, Illinois. Sadly, that music venue has long since closed, I believe it is a strip mall now.
I also seen Ted Nugent at the same place that same summer. I know it was around the Fourth of July due to all the fireworks people were lighting. I remember moving back into the lawn area, thinking to myself how dangerous it was that people were just throwing them over the crowd.
I believe Deep Purple was late in that same summer and saw them at what was then called UIC Pavilion in Chicago. I remember that concert because I had 2nd row center seats. I also remember due to something I am not so proud of currently. There was some professional photographer right in front of us and he was snapping off lots of photos and as you know back then was the old film. He would snap off a bunch and drop the rolls into his camera bag and start snapping more. I reached down and took a roll. I will tell you these photos came out great. I sold some of the photos and kept most for myself. Damn teenagers.
Well, I will get into more detail or talk more concerts in the near future.
