Indian railways should get the senior citizens concession back.

At one point of time before the pandemic Indian railways used to give 50% concession to female passengers above 58 years and 40% concession to male passengers above 60 years for rail travel. As fares increased many of the old persons could avail those concessions. But Indian railways had stopped it. I feel they should start it again. It is helpful for the old senior citizens.

Here, all citizens above 60 get concession in fares for all public transport.
I just wonder why in India, there is a difference in concession for make and female passengers.

thanks Amber what I feel is that during lockdown railways used to consider for less passengers there was loss. For that they stopped old age concessions

Is that concession totally gone or the percentage reduced?
I had also read about a voluntary forego of the concessions option for the senior citizens.
While the % of the concessions might be reduced but total absence is not right.
It is not a privilege but a sense of respect for the senior citizens.
The Central Government and the Railways should take an appropriate decision in this regard.

In my place, as far as i know, there's no discount based on the age. But, if we take public transportation (a bus) before 6 AM, it gives about 40% concession, to all the passengers.
