What's with fashion these days?

It seems there is an arrangement between textile manufacturers and fashion designers and the result is to use meters and meters of material to create weird fashions.
For the Cannes Festival Aishwarya the film star is seen wearing a green outfit that covered her from head to toe with meters of the material perhaps to hide her not so presentable fading figure.
And then she comes with a silver hood - how farcical she looks.
Strange that these models willingly wear those weird clothes without a whimper
What's your fashion statement? I like the shrug and have bought a couple

I do not think these models will wear those clothes on a daily basis and nor will the ordinary go for such weird fashions.

@allknowing purple, green, all shades red, yellow, orange sometimes if I have things with the darker shades I pair them with the lighter shades.

These fashion can only be taken to red carpet. Not in real life, you won't be able to function..
I always loved shrugs. I too have a collection and now my daughters borrow it from me.
I even like denim jackets and dresses.And loose fitting kaftan like tops are my choice too.

There should be rules while creating fashions.
I used to wear a pant and t shirt while at home that served if I planned to go out as well. But now I wear a kaftan at home

@allknowing Once I take a bath, I come out of my night dress and wear something presentable. Even if I don't have to step out, I need to dress up neatly and presentable. Else I don't feel good. I have got few of my unused dupattas converted to kaftan tops to go well with my trousers and plazos. I don't wear jeans at home. I will wear them only when I step out. These short kaftan tops are comfy and stylish.
My mom wears kaftan as her night dress. Rest of the time she is in elegant saree.

@allknowing I used to because I worked with a lot of fashion designers. The company I worked for offered CAD (computer-aided-design) software to designers.
I'm retired now. I prefer classic styles which I can wear for a long time.

To you and me, she looks like she’s wearing a large blanket or something…and she probably paid tens of thousands of dollars for that! 
One thing I do not, have not, and will never understand is “fashion.” I’ll stick with what’s comfortable, which for me is jeans and a t-shirt, or shorts in the the summer.

Well, when it comes to fashion, there's always room for a good laugh! It's like the mystery of the disappearing fabric—how do they manage to hide entire figures under those flowing layers? And silver hoods? Maybe it's an attempt to bring back the intergalactic fashion trend!
