It is only when I closed one of my eyes and looked with the other that I came to know that eye with which I was seeing had the ARMD. I take Lutein supplements and it is arrested but the issue is still there When both the eyes are open everything is fine I can see long and short distance with no trouble at all.
But had I not closed one eye - I really do not why I did it - I would not have taken Lutein and perhaps my other eye would have also got into trouble.
ARMD is age related macular degeneration that affects the central vision in that everything else except the central vision is impaired.
Apart from other things one does to ensure good eye sight one should occasionally close one eye and then the other to see if all is well. The affected eye will see for example the window bars wonky and crooked.

I wish many did that opening one eye and the other often. I did that as I said accidentally and came to know of the ARMD.

@LadyDuck If there is just one eye affected then the situation is not bad. Your mother must had both her eyes affected.

It's fascinating how closing one eye led to the discovery of the ARMD and the subsequent use of Lutein supplements. Taking proactive steps to maintain good eyesight is crucial, and this experience serves as a reminder to pay attention to subtle changes in our vision.

@allknowing I realized something was wrong when a small dark smudge was seen when I was reading. The Amsler grid is used to check your eyes at home.

It has not deteriorated and as I have said when both eyes are open there is no effect that one of my eyes is affected. How are your eyes doing?

Right now my eye has been hurting me. I think it's allergies because my nose has been running too.

@allknowing my left eye has a problem because there seems to be a pencil splinter still attached to my retina so if only my left eye sees there will be black spots around it and it can't be repaired anymore.

I too thought my eyes were normal until I accidentally closed one eye and then I saw that one of my eyes was affected. When both eyes are open one can never know if one of the eyes is affected. It is only when both the eyes are affected that one gets to know of the defects. when both eyes are open. But no one just closes one eye in the normal course I did it accidentally and am I not glad I did it

I pray your AMD will not continue to worsen. Years ago I had injections which really helped It's still there, but has stopped progressing.
