The first 'school shooting' in Western Australia

The photo has nothing to do with the discussion. We saw this banksia on our walk yesterday. Well, I guess it had to happen sooner or later. A 15-year-old former student of Atlantis Beach Baptist College at Two Rocks, just north of Perth fired three shots into the exterior of the school building. No-one was injured. With our ‘strict’ gun laws, there is much conjecture about how a 15-year-old got possession of .243 calibre and a .22 calibre rifles. But, of course, dozens of adults legitimately own rifles. All SHOULD be licensed but whether they are or not is another matter. I wonder how long it will be before there is another such incident.

@JudyEv It's a shame to think it should happen sooner or later. But it's realistic.

It's sad, given that it was a teenager carrying out the shooting fingers crossed I hope it won't happen again

Did they determine why he did it? Trying to vandalize the building or what? I wish our people here would shoot the school buildings instead of people in the buildings.

He is a former student so I guess he has a grudge of some sort. They haven't said yet if they know more.

@JudyEv Dark story, fantastic photo. By the way, I notice that @maluse disappeared during my absence in France. Do you know anything about that? Did she say good bye or just absquatulate without saying anything?

Good thing nobody was wounded during the shooting. Was the suspect caught? I'm curious as to why he did that. Hopefully there won't be any more imitators in the area.

@JudyEv It's good that he was apprehended because it means he won't cause any more trouble. I simply cannot comprehend why this is taking place. Children today are acting more brazenly and aggressively.

Yes, that's pretty true. Angry, aggressive attacks are on the rise too with no provocation. An 8-year-old attacked a 91-year-old who was sitting in his car. Then his drunken father joined in. 8-year old??? What's wrong with these people.

It has become a whole world problem. Did you hear about the troubled student who shot and killed students at a school in Serbia recently? From what I read, it was the first time something like that had happened in that country.

We live in a.crazy world, that’s for sure. At what point did we (collectively as humans) decide it was okay to try and shoot people for no other reason than because we wanted to?

Children throughout the world are turning violent. I think parents, teachers and the law makers should sit and discuss the reason behind it.
