Because of their astringency I cannot eat the cashew apples. I could not make juice either as most were dropped after the squirrels had nibbled at them. They normally fall at the slight touch.
But we have collected the seeds and someone come and take them and pay us. We must have collected atleast 3 kilos.
To extract nuts from seeds it is a tedious process. We always cashew nuts for our needs. They are loaded with health properties just like other nuts.
What nuts do you prefer?

They grow in our garden but I buy them as the process to get those nuts from the seeds is laborious

@allknowing I have read about how laborious it is to get those nuts from the seeds. I buy the walnuts ready to eat, even if still in their shells are less expensive.

I remember the first time I learned a cashew, was from a cashew apple; it was amazing to me!
As kids, I guess certain things surprise us. My favorite kind of nut probably IS a cashew. Macadamia nuts are quite tasty, but often too oily for my taste. Plus, they are very expensive.

@allknowing Oh, really? They are very popular in cookies too. Maybe some day you'll get to try some.

I love cashew nuts...simple, roasted, in curries and in desserts
. I think fenny, the famous drink from Goa comes from fermented cashew apples. I hope that I am right.
