Hibiscus flowers in Colombia are big, comparing to the ones in my country.
Both Colombia and my country are tropical. Therefore we have almost the same fruits, vegetables, and flowers. However almost all flowers that Colombia has are much bigger than in my country.
This hibiscus flower is as big as two of my hands.
Why do you think this can happen?

The hibiscus plants could have been bred over lots of years to have bigger flowers. Or, there could be a difference in soil types.
It's honestly hard to know for sure.

@evilamericans That's true, too. At the other house we had miniature hibiscus plants that had regular-sized flowers on them with some plants having miniature-flowers, too.

@Shasha_ A lot of things could cause the difference. Next time you return to your country, you could take some of the seeds and see if the flowers grow as large as in Colombia.

There may have some scientific reason. We too have big flowers here in India. We have many types of roses. Some are small and others are big.

@leighnyork They don't really have specific scent. I can say that they don't smell.
