Hibiscus flowers in Colombia are big, comparing to the ones in my country. Both Colombia and my country are tropical. Therefore we have almost the same fruits, vegetables, and flowers. However almost all flowers that Colombia has are much bigger than in my country. This hibiscus flower is as big as two of my hands. Why do you think this can happen?

The hibiscus plants could have been bred over lots of years to have bigger flowers. Or, there could be a difference in soil types. It's honestly hard to know for sure.

@evilamericans That's true, too. At the other house we had miniature hibiscus plants that had regular-sized flowers on them with some plants having miniature-flowers, too.

You brought up a good point. I also thought that the soil in Colombia is more fertile than in my country.

@Shasha_ A lot of things could cause the difference. Next time you return to your country, you could take some of the seeds and see if the flowers grow as large as in Colombia.

The hibiscus is a very common flower here. They may not as big as yours. Usually they are as big as the fists.

There may have some scientific reason. We too have big flowers here in India. We have many types of roses. Some are small and others are big.

Good to know. And also your country is well-known for Mary gold. Right?

I have big blooms on mine on my deck. I think the soil plays a huge factor.

@leighnyork They don't really have specific scent. I can say that they don't smell.
