I am hot, and sweaty, and fascinating

I am fascinating to a grizzled skipper. No that is not a greying old man of the sea,, it is a type of butterfly.
Bob and I were sitting and talking and enjoying the breeze under our pop up shade canopy. We were keeping an eye on the cats.
Quite a variety of butterflies are enjoying the weeds and flowers in the yard and we were not moving around a lot.
This one butterfly, that I have identified online would not leave me alone. It is called a grizzled skipper. It landed on my shoulder. It landed on my crossed legs. It landed on the back of my hand. I have never seen a live butterfly so up close.
Of course I did not touch it, that knocks the scales off its wings if you do that. This is a black and tan smallish butterfly. The edges of its wings are kind of tattered looking or scalloped.
I was fascinated myself. Looking at the antennae I could see that the ends had white on them, like they were dipped in paint. When it would face me I could see the eyes. Most interesting of all was its tongue. It was tasting my sweaty skin. The tongue was fairly long, and thinner than a human hair. It was kind of orange colored and I think it curls up when retracted.
As long as I did not move fast, it sat on me. When it would fly away for a bit, it always came back.
I bet you did not know I was such an attractive person.

That is so cool! You got such an incredibly rare view, and that's so awesome considering your amazing description. It reminds me of the adorable picture I saw on Twitter of a Golden Retriever with a butterfly on its nose. It just sat there, staring at it, content to let it rest on it's little, black sniffer.

I think I have seen that picture. I have been to zoos and places that had "butterfly gardens" but this was just so spontaneous it made my day.

@GardenGerty Oh, I'm sure Bitty and Bruno think you're sweet. Probably Bob does, too.

I thought maybe the salt. If it was just moisture it could have gotten that at the birdbath.

That is soooo cool. That's a rare occurrence for a butterfly to land on you and stay for so long. You are so lucky. Too bad you didn't have a camera.
