Day 338
(Isaiah 56:1-2) Thus says the LORD: “Keep justice, and do righteousness, for My salvation is about to come, and My righteousness to be revealed. Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who lays hold on it, who keeps from defiling the Sabbath, and keeps his hand from doing any evil.”
The Sabbath is the seventh day of the week, not the first. It is a day of rest and relaxation. A day to spend with family, and God. Not many people spend time with God on any day of the week. They prefer their days of rest and relaxation.
When God gave the Law to Moses, He made it one of the Ten Commandments to spend the Sabbath in the temple glorifying God for all He did for them.
(Exodus 20:8-11) “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you will labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you will do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore, the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
Do you bless the Sabbath day and hallow it?
When Jesus rose from the dead on the first day of the week, Christians made the first day of the week, their Sabbath, a day of rest and relaxation with friends and family, and spending time with God in His house, glorifying and praising Him for all He did for them the previous week.
How do you spend the Sabbath? Do you honor God for your salvation? Isaiah told the people His salvation was about to come. Therefore, they were to keep justice and righteousness and hallow the Sabbath. When they did, God would bless them.
Do you spend time with God one day a week, whether it is the Sabbath, Saturday, or Sunday? Do you honor and glorify Him for all He did for you? Or do you spend it the same as you would every other day of the week? Do you know God’s blessings on your life, or are they lacking because you don’t honor Him by giving Him first place in your life?
What changes do you need to make in your life to receive God’s blessings?
Remember what Jesus told the people in the Sermon on the Mount:
(Matthew 6:33) “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
God will give you the desires of your heart and bless you abundantly when you give Him first place in your life.
(Psalms 37:3-7) Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
You lose nothing when you put God first. You gain. You gain His blessings and the desires of your heart. When you put God first and honor Him, you win.
When was the last time you honored God and spent time in His presence? Start today and make it a daily habit to start your day with God and watch Him bless you.
Let’s pray: Father, bless me as I spend every day in Your presence, seeking You and Your will for my life. Help me to be faithful to You as I find myself in worship and praise with other believers, honoring You for all You do for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” I always hear this from people around me, but what I see is the opposite.
People going to church are becoming fewer and fewer, and many people spend their time gallivanting and enjoying the day. I have to admit, I am one of these type of people.
I was a devout Catholic before but now, I think I have to reconnect or find something that could motivate me again. I seem disconnected.

Other religions seem to value their Sabbath more than which Christians do these days.
Christians seem to play sport, watch sport, work, have parties, and some still go to church.
Work, and sports, seems to be at the forefront of most people's thinking these days.
It would be good if we could all go back to a slower pace of living, and working, and keep one day, the Sabbath free from work, and Holy.

@just4him My Dad always kept his Sunday holy too. He would not even cut his lawn on a Sunday.
These days it is harder.
My wife is a aged care worker, and often works on a Sunday. I do not want to say anything, as l do not want to sound restrictive.

@innertalks There are some things you need to comply with when you work. I always made certain I didn't work on Sunday.
