We did the same thing for Mother's Day. Jay wanted to avoid the crowds on
Sunday, for Father's Day. Neither one of us like to wait in line, for our meals.
I treated my husband out for dinner, two days early. He selected a wonderful stack of pancakes, bacon, fried potatoes and eggs at Denny's Restaurant.
I hadn't eaten a steak in a restaurant, in years. So I selected a sirloin steak, red potatoes in the skin and a medley of various cooked vegetables. I couldn't eat the bread and brought it home wrapped in a napkin.
We had a very nice meal at an excellent price. Jay used his veteran's discount, which was very generous!
Jay needed a couple grocery items at Meijer's, then we headed for home. The weather was lovely, about 65degrees in Saginaw.

@kobesbuddy You are so right, this is also something I cannot stand, you wait, you do not get the right food and the service is horrible.

We don't like waiting in line for a table and service. They seldom get the order right. The service is terrible, on special holidays.

It sounds wonderful. Wonderful AND tasty, plus the fried potatoes always get me. It was smart to get out there again before the masses come out on Sunday. I think we're just eating at home for my dad's Father's Day celebration. My sister and her family are coming down, and I believe he asked for a meal at home. I'd rather have Denny's, by if he's happy we are too!

My father has been gone since 2006, so we don't have him around to celebrate. In Alabama, Jay has eight sisters who flock in to take Jay's dad out for a meal. He doesn't want to go out, but they take him anyway. He's 95 years old. Jay will call him, the best thing possible.

@kobesbuddy even without pandemic, we do it this way. It is way difficult to get seats in restaurants during these celebrations

For this special weekend, we will just stay home. The traffic is awful!

I'm glad you had a nice dinner at Denny's. 65-75 is my prime temperature. It's no jacket time; and it's comfortable.

We both wore our jackets, the AC was on in the restaurant.

Jay wants pancakes, most of the time when we go out for supper. Myself, I often get fish.

@kobesbuddy yes, I liked many Wonder songs however he did not sing this one, Here is info about that song on the Internet.
"Saginaw, Michigan" is a 1964 song performed by Lefty Frizzell. The single was Lefty Frizzell's sixth and final number one on the U.S. country chart. "Saginaw, Michigan" spent a total of 23 weeks on the country chart and peaked at number 85 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song earned Lefty Frizzell a Grammy
