Ever since the arrival of the Internet and tv we no longer get our morning paper. In the good old days it used to be first come first served basis The moment the newspaper boy arrived the one who reached him first would get to read the paper. Those days we were into shares and that is the page we first opened and our feelings fluctuated depending on what we saw there. Then came the column that we termed as - hatches, matches and dispatches (birth, marriages and deaths) What we miss is the stack of old newspapers that came in handy for several uses. When guests arrive they buy the paper from a nearby stall and that is how we get to collect some old newspapers The channel NDTV is on when the day begins. It has a news channel and then there is the Internet that has a slot for news as well But that excitement of grabbing the paper to be the first one to read is what I miss.

I used to take the paper after my parents were done. I don’t know why a seven year old would want the paper, but they gave me everything but the front page. They didn’t want me reading about any murders or anything. I’d read the obituaries, birth announcements, the comics, and then the art section.

@RubyHawk I used to get them from the Library specially Little Lulu. I remember when she went to the confectionary store to order for a cake for her birthday she mentioned her name as Lulubelle so that she could get a lot of icing on the cake (lol)

We bought the Financial Times and the International Herald Tribune, my husband preferred to start with the F.T., then we switched. For the local news we listened to the radio early in the morning while having breakfast.

@allknowing Same as you, but we listened when the newspapers were still delivered. We preferred the radio to the TV because we liked to sit at a table to have breakfast, the TV was in the living room.

I have noticed that getting the daily newspaper after the internet took over is gone and many of us miss reading the newspaper.

Honestly, I haven't read a printed newspaper for a long time. The benefit of reading online newspaper is you get updated news always.
